- Captain George Santorini Yachting ~ Here is why it stands out:
Authentic Experience: Unlike the modern, mass-market catamarans, Captain George operates the S/Y Eleftheria, a traditional 55-foot wooden Greek sailboat (Kaiki) built in 1971. This offers a vintage, "movie set" atmosphere that many travelers find magical. Highly Rated Captain: Captain George himself is frequently described as "informative," "funny," and "smart," with over 35 years of experience. He is known for sharing deep knowledge of the island's history, culture, and sailing, often making guests feel like they are sailing with a friend rather than a crew. Avoids Crowds: Because he operates a smaller, traditional boat, he often avoids the heavy traffic of larger cruise ships, timing stops at the volcano and hot springs o ensure a more private experience. Excellent Food & Service: Reviews consistently highlight the delicious, freshly prepared Greek meals (often grilled on board), generous portions, and attentive service from the crew. Strong Track Record: The company has nearly 200 reviews on with a rating of 4.8/5, with many guests returning year after year or recommending it as the "highlight of their trip." If you are looking for a traditional, intimate, and highly personalized sailing experience rather than a large party boat, this is widely considered one of the best options in Santorini.
