Desertas Islands or South Coast: Full Day Private Sailing with Lunch

A full day at sea from Marina da Quinta do Lorde, aboard our Dufour 325 Grand Large with a private skipper. Eight hours and up to six guests, with your choice of a 09:00 or a 10:00 departure. Your group books the whole boat.

We choose the route on the morning of the tour, from the wind and the sea state, and we tell you before we cast off. With the right conditions we sail out to the Desertas Islands, a protected nature reserve about three hours away, anchor in clear water and sail back. When the crossing is not comfortable we sail the south coast instead, along the cliffs west of Ponta de São Lourenço, with more stops and more time in the water. Both are full days at sea, both include the same lunch, drinks and snorkelling. The difference is the horizon.

The Desertas are strictly protected and landing is not permitted. We anchor off Deserta Grande, swim in the clear water, and your skipper tells you about the reserve and the pirate history of these islands.

Lunch on board is homemade: tuna salad with vegetables, fresh fruit and light snacks, with water, soft drinks, beer and white wine included.

Snorkelling gear and life jackets are on board. Dolphins, turtles and occasionally whales show up often, and the Desertas are one of the last refuges of the Mediterranean monk seal, but we never sell wildlife as guaranteed.

This is a sailing yacht, not a catamaran and not a motorboat. When there is wind we sail with the engine off.
